Robert H. Hill, Jr., Ph.D. is a Public Health Program Manager with Battelle in Atlanta, GA. Formerly he worked in or managed laboratories for 30 years and has more than 30 years experience working in occupational and environmental health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). At CDC he worked at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH), and the Office of Health and Safety (OHS), where as Acting Director he managed CDC's occupational safety and health program providing oversight and direction for welfare of workforce of >20,000. He developed new concepts in safety including The Safety Ethic, Chemical Safety Levels, and a new chemical hazard classification system. As a member of the American Chemical Society he has served as Member-at-Large, Chair-Elect, Chair, and Immediate Past Chair in the ACS's Division of Chemical Health and Safety. He has served as member of the Board of Editors of the Journal of Chemical Health and Safety since 2000. He served a member and President of the National Registry of Certified Chemists - the organization that certifies Chemical Hygiene Officers. Dr. Hill received his Ph.D. in chemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) and his B.S. in chemistry from Georgia State University. He has served as a temporary advisor to the World Health Organization, served as an invited evaluation panel member for the Kuwait Prize - the Arab World's equivalent to the Nobel Prize, and received the Howard Fawcett Award for outstanding achievements to chemical health and safety. He has more than 95 publications to his credit, received numerous awards in public health, and delivered numerous presentations to national and international scientific and public audiences.
